Saqi, bring me wine and nothing else;Rumi
Bring the wine that makes men free.
A wind is stirring in the sky, you said.
Until it comes, my love, pour wine for me.
They say that heaven’s a high paradiseRumi
Where nymphs and elixirs await.
So now we grasp at love and wine
In sweet anticipation of our fate.
Luminous full moon, the bow of your browRumi
Shoots an arrow, and fills heart’s cup with blood.
I ask, ‘This heart, this blood… what can compare?’
I take the cup of wine as she says, ‘There.’
